Description

Dusty disheveled Tucson was an economic behemoth that tied together parts of northern Mexico and much of southern and central Arizona. Young Nellie Cashman, back from mining camps in Nevada, Canada, and California, came early to Arizona during the mineral rush to locations scattered throughout the Territory. She opened businesses in Tucson where Mexican culture prodded recent arrivals from the States and foreign countries toward a new understanding of American.
